"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.  If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen." 1 Peter 4:10-11 (NIV)

Scriptural Basis:  "The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ." Ephesians 4:11-13

The purpose of the education ministry is that all persons be aware of God through God’s self-disclosure, especially God’s redeeming love as revealed in Jesus Christ.  The objective is that they become new persons in Christ enabled by the Holy Spirit to respond in faith and love.  The goal is that all persons will understand who they are in Christ and what their human situation means as they grow as children of God rooted in the Christian community.  The education ministry strives to equip all persons to live in obedience to the will of God in every relationship, fulfill their common lifework in the world, and endure in Christian hope.

The purpose and goals of this ministry are accomplished through in-depth study of God's Holy Word.

Scriptural Basis:  "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth."  2 Timothy 2:15

Our mission is to function as servants of our Lord Jesus Christ serving in and through the church as partners with the pastor in enabling the church to fulfill its Kingdom mission.

Why should someone join your ministry?

A man should seek to join the deacons ministry if he feels led by the Lord to serve as in

Acts 6:1-7 and be tested as in 1 Timothy 3:8-10.

Where is help needed in your Ministry?

The deacons ministry is open to men selected by the church who are willing to serve and be tested as set forth in the answer above.

How would someone contact you if they are interested in volunteering or joining your ministry?

How would someone contact you if they are interested in volunteering or joining your ministry?  Unlike most other ministries, one cannot simply join the deacons ministry. St. Stephens periodically has a need to add more deacons and opens a formal nomination process. During this process members of the church may nominate potential deacon candidates. The candidates are formally interviewed by the deacons and the pastor. If a man is willing to serve, and is selected, he must undergo training successfully before being ordained as a deacon by the pastor.

The purpose of the Decorations Ministry is to take care of the general building aesthetics.  The décor of the building will focus on communicating goals, objectives and strategies to the church body that support the church operational plan.  The décor will inform the body of upcoming activities.

The Decoration Ministry strives to set the mood for worship through care of the building.  There is no relationship more intimate, no love greater than that which Christ has for us.  Our building is a place where this relationship is nurtured and grows.  Our goal is to enhance the visual experience as we all grow closer to Christ.
